Update – March 6, 2025
Earlier today, the United States administration has, at least temporarily removed the tariffs levied on Canadian products that comply with the United States – Mexico – Canada Agreement (USMCA).
While the move was announced as a delay, we hope that it will lead to a permanent rollback of all trade barriers between the US and Canada.
Unfortunately, the Canadian government has not yet rolled back its reciprocal tariffs. This means that American goods, including RANGER Pet Doors, are still subject to the Canadian-imposed duty of 25%.
We are continuing to monitor the situation, and we will eliminate the tariff / duty portion of the Tax Payment Fee we have to charge as soon as the Canadian government announces any updates on their policy.
Again, I would like to personally thank our Canadian customers for their patience. We are all looking forward to a return to a time when our leaders get along with each other as well as normal Canadian and American citizens do.

As CEO of RANGER Pet Doors, I am disappointed to see the tariffs levied by the United States on Canadian goods and the reciprocal tariffs levied by Canada on American goods. These measures are illogical and harmful to both countries, and it is normal Canadian and American citizens who will bear the repercussions of these additional costs.
As an American, I deeply disagree with our Federal policy on this matter. Our leaders should be finding ways to bring our countries closer together, not pushing them apart.
It is my great hope that these tariffs will be short-lived. In the interim, RANGER Pet Doors will be subject to the Canadian duty of 25% on American-made goods.
We are not raising the prices on our pet doors.
In order to minimize the impact on our Canadian customers, we will be absorbing as much of the tariff as possible.
We will continue to charge a Tax Payment Fee for each of our orders that allows us to pay all import taxes to the broker on our customers’ behalf, with no COD, tariffs, taxes, or other fees due upon delivery. This fee had previously mirrored the recipient’s GST / HST / PST burden, and it will now include additional amounts for the new Canadian import taxes.
We are working with our Canadian and US team to find more ways to limit the impact of these tariffs on our customers.
I would like to personally apologize to our Canadian customers for the hassle and hardship these tariffs are causing.
